Fox Valley Habitat Women Build Home 2019

Habitat's Women Build volunteers come together from all walks of life to build stronger, safer communities. Women and children make up the majority of people populating Habitat neighborhoods, as they are the most likely to be affected by poor living conditions. Women Build events provide the opportunity for women to take a proactive step in serving their communities.

What is the Women Build program?

Women Build is a Habitat for Humanity International program that encourages women to make a difference by building homes and communities. The program seeks to encourage women volunteers to further the home-building mission of Habitat for Humanity. Since Women Build's official creation in 1991, Women Build volunteers have constructed more tha2,225 homes around the world!

The mission of Habitat for Humanity Women Build program is to enable U.S. and international affiliates to recruit, educate, and nurture women to build and advocate for simple, decent, and affordable houses in their communities. In achieving this, Women Build brings together women from all walks of life to address the housing crisis facing millions of women and children worldwide.

In keeping this mission alive, we are very excited to announce that one of our homes this year will be built primarily by women! We are looking to involve women groups, companies, and individuals to learn or teach skills to build the home.

The home is being built for a family of four women. Elsa, her daughters, and her mother are currently living in a small home with other family members and they will be working side-by-side with volunteers during the building process.

How can I get involved with the Women Build Program?

We encourage you to ask your friends, family, co-workers, or any other women groups that you are involved in to join you for a build day and help us on our journey to empower more women to build. There are also sponsorships levels available if you would like to contribute, but not build. Fox Valley Habitat Women Build Program works as a fundraiser that helps benefit the building of the Women Build home for the Macias Family. All Women Build volunteers are asked to raise *$250 per person to cover the cost of the materials that are used for each build day. It can be corporate/company funded or each person can fundraise individually. It's easy to achieve and we'll show you how! You can also earn fun prizes at different levels of your fundraising. The best part is feeling the satisfaction of knowing that you were a vital part of helping build a home for a deserving family.

* Your $250 fundraising goal must be completed before your build day in order to participate.
