  • Verify ability to pay a mortgage
  • Confirm legal status
  • Share habitat for Humanity expectations as a Partner Family
  • Board Approval
Application Process Checklist

  • Signed and completed Application; delivered at Home Buyer Informational meetings
  • Credit Report authorization completed
  • Current pay stubs received
  • Proof of other income, if any, provided
  • W-2 forms for at last two years provided
  • All required documents submitted by due date
  • Copy of Application Process Checklist

Application Review Checklist

  • Debt Ratio reviewed
  • Income Matching completed
  • Credit Report Analysis received and reviewed
  • Need for housing verified
  • Income Sources verified
  • Employment History documented and verified
  • Legal Lake County residency verified

Qualifications to be a Habitat for Humanity Homeowner

  • Residency: Lake County Resident for past 24 months and Legal U.S. Resident
  • Need for Improved Housing: Current housing is inadequate or unsafe
  • Ability to Pay: Sufficient income for family size to meet HUD guidelines as shown above. Bankruptcy discharged at least 2 years ago
  • Willing to Partner: Complete 500 hours of sweat equity in weekly Habitat financial literacy classes, monthly budgeting sessions, volunteering at our ReStore and building or rehabbing homes
