Home Repair Program
We offer home repair services to homeowners so they can continue to live in safe, decent homes for years to come. DuPage Habitat for Humanity's Home Repair program is designed to improve the quality of life and living conditions of low-to moderate-income homeowners by focusing on both exterior and interior home repairs. The Home Repair Program focuses on four areas:
- An affordable loan is made to the homeowner to cover the cost of the work. Payments are placed in a revolving fund to help Home Preservation serve others in need. Services may include painting, residing, repair of steps, and porches, adding ramps, yard clean up, and roof repair.
DuPage Habitat’s Weatherization program aims to reduce energy costs for low-income homeowners by improving the energy efficiency of the home. Cost savings in utility consumption is in line with DuPage Habitat’s mission of helping people achieve affordable homeownership.
Critical Home Repair
Critical home repair is interior or exterior work performed to alleviate critical health, life and safety issues or code violations, including a change to or repair of materials or components; a reconfiguration of space; a modification for accessibility; installation or extension of plumbing, mechanical or electrical systems on an existing structure.
Winter Heat Readiness
The Winter Heat Readiness program is designed to improve the quality of life and living conditions of homeowners by focusing on making their homes safe and stable throughout the winter months. During the initial inspection our HVAC professional staff will conduct a home health and safety check to determine the specific problems. The program will include but is not limited to: HVAC equipment inspections and replacement, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, life safety home system inspections and a review of homeowner maintenance protocols.
