Matthew Moy Johnson
Chief Executive Officer
Matt has 22 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, with a focus on Resource Development, Marketing, Strategic Planning and Collaboration. Prior to joining Chicagoland Habitat for Humanity, Matt held positions with the McGaw YMCA, the Museum of Science and Industry, the Alford Group, Lake Forest College and Habitat for Humanity International.
He has had several touch points with Habitat for Humanity during his career, starting with a one year stint at Habitat for Humanity International headquarters in Georgia. Several years later, during his graduate school experience, he collaborated with the business school and other graduate school leadership to raise the funds, partner with other agencies, and coordinate volunteers to build a Habitat house for the Broome family. In the late 1990’s, Matt served on the Family Selection Committee for the Uptown Habitat for Humanity, a predecessor of the current Windy City Habitat affiliate in Chicago.
Matt graduated from Augustana College and has an MBA in Organizational Behavior and Nonprofit Management from Case Western Reserve University.
He serves on the boards of the Warren Cherry Scholarship Fund and the Root2fruit Advisory Board of the Evanston Community Foundation. Matt is married, has two children, enjoys any racquet sport, particularly tennis, and loves to travel and experience new cultures.
