DuPage Habitat for Humanity Hosts ACE Cares Week
For the second year in a row we have partnered with ACE for a full week of volunteering
During the week of September 21, 2020, DuPage Habitat for Humanity partnered with ACE Hardware for their annual ACE Cares Week. Back for the second year, ACE Cares Week is an opportunity for corporate employees to volunteer together in the communities they serve. COVID presented a unique opportunity to host a remote build on their Oak Brook campus, helping to minimize exposure for their employees.
Local ACE Hardware stores also collaborated by donating the lumber for the playhouses. Over the course of five days, in teams of five, ACE Hardware employees worked to construct two Habitat Playhouses. These playhouses will be raffled to current Habitat homeowners.
ACE Hardware has supported DuPage Habitat for Humanity for over 7 years through financial and in-kind donations to the Habitat ReStore with the partnership growing stronger each year. ACE Hardware's Fundraising and Volunteer Program Manager, Catherine Jones said, "Habitat is a great reminder to people that everyone deserves a secure, safe place to live and at ACE Hardware, we are always helping people improve their homes and make them safer."
DuPage Habitat's Director of Development, Sue Ward, was happy to announce the support from ACE Hardware. "DuPage Habitat for Humanity's Playhouse Program is a fun and meaningful way to volunteer with colleagues while raising funds for DuPage Habitat for Humanity and benefiting local families. We work side-by-side with corporate volunteers' teams to construct and paint children's playhouses that are then donated to local Habitat families. The playhouses provide a special place for family members to bond, play, dream, and think. It is a 'home' of their own," Ward said.
