Future Homeowners

“DuPage Habitat for Humanity has given my family hope for a better future.”

When Buba, her mother, and her daughter arrived in America through World Relief in 2013 they didn’t have much. Soon after they arrived, Buba pursued an associate’s degree and advance certificate of polysomnography (sleep studies). During that time, she was accepted into the two year transitional housing program through Bridge Communities. It was through Bridge Communities that she found out about DuPage Habitat for Humanity.

Buba is looking for more stability for her family, especially  for her now 8-year-old daughter. Buba and her family have moved 3 times within the last 5 years, which has been hard for her daughter changing schools and trying to make new friends at each new place. Buba is looking forward to the stability that being a Habitat Homeowner will bring. She knows her daughter is looking forward to having her very own room for the first time. Buba enjoys the learning aspect of completing her Sweat Equity with DuPage Habitat for Humanity. She says, “The best part of going to the construction sites is learning the names of the tools and how to build or rehab a home, so that later I am able to fix things in my house on my own.”
