ReStore Aurora Employee Spotlight: Juan

Store Associate

Meet ReStore Aurora employee, Juan M. He is a fun and energetic person to be around. His laughter and great outlook on life are infectious, it makes it easy to work with him. He is a dedicated, hardworking family man with a heart of gold.

Juan has been a proud Habitat Homeowner along with his family since 2017. He has volunteered his services for many years with Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity and has become close friends with all of the staff, which has become a part of his family.

During the COVID-19 quarantine, Fox Valley Habitat offered him a job at the ReStore but he declined since he was still employed with another company. A few months after the pandemic started in 2020, his company started cutting hours and finally had to lay off several employees and he was forced to go on unemployment. For a while it was great to stay at home, one of the benefits was he was able to maintain his home and the yard and spend a lot of time with his children. But after several months of being unemployed he knew that he needed to get a stable job to help take care of his family and the bills. Juan remembered the offer he was given months before to work at the ReStore. He reached out to the manager and was hired on full time after many discussions with his wife about what the benefits this job had to offer their family. ReStore Aurora is so close to home, great health benefits and wages, and a chance to meet people.

On June 1, 2021, Juan Martinez started his new job as a store associate. Day in and day out, Juan has a positive attitude about work and is always happy to go to work. His wife, Maria, recounts that he comes home saying, “I’m tired but I love my job.”

Thank you, Juan, for joining the team at ReStore Aurora. We appreciate your hard work and dedication!

Juan and his family have been proud FVHH homeowners since May of 2018!
